BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:10 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) carried out a powerful attack against the jihadist rebels in northeastern Latakia on Thursday.

Led by the Republican Guard and 4th Division, the Syrian Army troops heavily targeted the Turkestan Islamic Party’s (TIP) positions at their strongholds of Kabani and Sirmaniyeh, which are located near the Idlib Governorate axis.

According to a field report, the Syrian Army not only targeted these jihadist strongholds, but they also struck the militant positions in the Al-Ghaab Plain and Jabal Al-Zawiya region.

These attacks by the Syrian Arab Army have become more prevalent over the last few weeks, as the government looks to weaken the jihadist resolve in northwestern Syria.

Despite the ongoing joint patrols between the Turkish and Russian forces along the M-4 Highway, the situation in northwestern Syria remains very dangerous, as all parties continue to exchange hostilities on a daily basis.
