The delegation from Saudi Arabia met in Damascus with the President of Syria, Bashar Assad, the Arab newspaper Rai Al Youm writes, referring to unnamed diplomatic sources in the Syrian capital.

The delegation was headed by the head of the intelligence service, Khaled el Humaydan. The head of the Syrian National Security Bureau, Ali Mamluk, also met with the representatives of Riyadh. Sources said that an agreement was reached to open a Saudi embassy in Damascus after 10 years.
According to the Arab newspaper, the embassy will be opened after the end of the Muslim fast – Ramadan, on May 13. The ceremony will be attended by the head of diplomacy of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan el Saud.

According to the media, Riyadh also welcomed Syria’s return to the Arab League.
