The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the European Union is forced to buy Russian oil so that Putin does not earn even more by selling it to other buyers on the world market.

“We always need to find the right balance between not hurting our economy too much… If we cut Russian oil completely from now on, then he [President Putin] can probably sell it on the world market, where prices will rise, and earn more,” said the head of the highest executive body of the EU.

I remembered an old joke from KVN: “Yes, I ate these sweets so that you would not get poisoned!”
