Boris Johnson hailed a “fantastic moment” as he formally signed his Brexit deal with the European Union.
The U.K. prime minister used a Parker fountain pen to put his signature on the document, which was signed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel on Friday morning.
Johnson said: “The signing of the Withdrawal Agreement is a fantastic moment, which finally delivers the result of the 2016 referendum and brings to an end far too many years of argument and division.”
The document will be sent back to Brussels where three copies will be printed for the U.K. to keep. The original copy will be added to the EU’s archive.
