The Regional Committee for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO) plans to support the promotion of Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V, WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge said at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on Wednesday.

Kluge highly praised Russian President Vladimir Putin’s speech at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, in particular for his support to the WHO.

“Tell the president that you have a true friend at the WHO Regional Committee for Europe,” he added.

The WHO Regional Director for Europe pointed out that his visit to Moscow can be viewed as a sign “of his steadfast commitment to broader cooperation with Russia at the national, regional and global levels, including <…> the promotion of Russia’s huge work on the Sputnik V vaccine against COVID.”.
